My Tree Book Experience!
People, today I am going to tell you guys how it felt to work with a pro artist, Peg Gignoux. She lives in Durham and came to our school to work with us to create an amazing tree book. A tree book is a book where there is a wooden board and paintings on the wooden boards. They look amazing.
Our first step to make the tree book was to make akua ink prints. Akua is a special type of paint. We made nice looking paintings of flowers. Then, we screen printed the wooden boards that were the trees. Screen printing is when you have a roll of paint, and you have words on the paper, and you roll a brayer over the paper. Then, we collaged our amazing akua ink prints onto our tree book. Then, when inserted pockets into our book so we could put some more and letters in there. After that, we wrote a multi paragraph page and we put that page into the pockets. That felt amazing to be almost halfway through our tree books. Then we wrote a life list. A life list a list of things that you want to do during your life. We wrote those down and put that in another pocket. Then, because of Covid, we wrote lists called “When this is over,” because those are the things we won’t take for granted again. Then we made a my wish page because those are our wishes for the future, and there are pretty epic. Then we put those in a pocket. So cool. Our tree books looked amazing. Then we folded the paper to fit in the tree book. So cool. That was the whole proccess. And then, we had our books shown in the prestigous Frank Gallery, in University mall. I wasn’t there, but that was probably amazing.
